I've spent two winter seasons (December 2013 to March 2015 and December 2015 to March 2017)
at the Halley Research Station in Antarctica, with the following responsibilities:
- science data systems and servers administration
- software development for science data processing and visualisation
- completed a project to virtualise science data servers, and migrate the science data to a new platform in preparation for Halley VI Relocation; this enabled subsequent automatic unattended operation of systems
- taking meteorological observations both synoptic as well as for operational use by the BAS Air Unit
- refuelling and marshalling of visiting aircraft as well as providing basic radio services
- member of the Search and Rescue Team
